FAQ - Penapis air

Sebelum membeli penapis air, ini adalah beberapa perkara yang sering menjadi persoalan dan perlu diketahui oleh individu.

NSF has also developed nationally recognized standards for drinking water treatment products including, carbon filters, reverse osmosis systems, ultraviolet systems, distillers, shower filters, and water softeners. In general, the units help consumers who are concerned about health effects and aesthetics (chlorine, taste and smell), and to make sure the products work as claimed.

Are water treatment systems regulated?
The federal government does not currently require home water treatment systems to be tested or prove effectiveness. A few states have adopted laws to regulate the sale of residential water treatment devices within their borders.

Which drinking water treatment systems are the best?
No systems can protect the user against all contaminants. Even among products that use the same technology, performance capabilities can vary from one unit to the next. As a result, it is important for consumers to identify what contaminants they wish to treat before shopping for a water treatment system.

How can I find out what's in my water?
If your home is on a public water supply, contact the local water utility to request a copy of their annual water quality report. Individuals with private wells may be able to obtain information about local water quality conditions from their local health department. They may also have a list of certified drinking water laboratories in case water testing is needed.

If a product is certified to a NSF/ANSI Standard, does that mean it reduces all contaminants under that standard?
No. Some products may only be tested for material safety, while others may be tested for both material safety and performance. In addition, the number of performance claims validated for each unit can vary. << Yang ni biasa berlaku adalah, kadang kadang penapis air tu ada 6 penapis berbeza, tapi yang certified by NSF Cuma sebatang. While aku tak kata diorang ni cheating, Cuma aku rasa agak kurang jujur.

Several certification marks appear on a company's literature. Does it mean all of the company's products were certified?
Not necessarily. Ask to see a sample of the system being offered to you and inspect it to see if any certification marks are present. Also be sure to inspect the unit when it is being installed in your home to verify that it also displays the same certification mark and matches the certified product model number. Ask the seller for the name and phone number of the testing organization, and contact them to verify the unit you are purchasing is truly certified.

B*llsh*t water

Assalamualaikum

Actually dari malam tadi aku rasa sangat sangat bengang. Apa eh masalah orang melayu kita yang takde masalah tanpa rasa bersalah menipu orang melayu untuk dapat untung. Seriously, aku sangat sangat sick dengan jenis manusia macam ni.

Aku tak nak buat lagi sebenarnya, bila orang tanya pasal penapis air aku. Aku tak pernah lagi buruk burukkan brand lain, melainkan kalau orang tanya opinion aku tentang certain brand. Aku ada every evidence that you will ever need untuk buktikan bahawa ada beberapa brand kat luar sana yang tak ada masalah jual penapis air dengan false claim (tak semua la).

Semalam, ada satu pertanyaan aku dapat melalui email. Tentang satu brand "buatan orang Malaysia". Kononnya Muslim. Kononnya sembuh dari penyakit kronik yang patutnya boleh hidup beberapa bulan je lagi sebab minum air dari penapis air tu. Come on la. Nak menipu pun agak agak la.

Read my lips. Tak pernah. Tak ada penapis air yang bila diminum airnya boleh sembuh penyakit. That is bullsh*t.

RO water is healthy for you?

Air adalah air. Banyak brand aku jumpa. Oh..da lepas tapis, tambah mineral la, tambah pH la. The purpose of water filter water purification or whatever you call it, adalah untuk tapis bahan cemar. Yang nak pi tambah mineral tambah pH tu buat menatang apa.

Aku marah. This is serious. Bayangkan, orang spend ribu ribu. Untuk beli some crap and given false hope that it can cure your illness. And you are happy making profit out of it.

Unscientific rubbish

Air adalah air. The water you need is a good clean water. Mungkin pada sesetengah orang, air paip dah cukup bersih. Aku tak salahkan diorang sebab Kementerian Kesihatan Malaysia sendiri kata "pipe water is drinkable". Which is they never even bother to explain further on how healthy it is. Sebab tu tak ada orang masuk hospital sebab keracunan air. But think again, berapa kerap kita demam atau sakit dalam setahun. Walau pun mungkin ada yang kata ianya takde kaitan, tapi ia memang ada kaitan. To believe it or not. It is up to you.

If someone goes to you and try to sell you a water filter, ask them for the contaminant list that their product can filter. If they cannot produce it, they may not even know how well their product can perform.
